Some days I simply lose all faith in humanity.
A ten year old girl gets hit by a car at the corner my store is on,
and when people ask me about it the first thing out of their mouths was
"was it her fault?"
Not "is she okay?" or "is she hurt?" ...
they want to know where to put the blame.
As if the accident is less serious if it was the kids fault.
For the record - I was inside. Working.
I didn't see it happen.
The first I knew about it was when one of our regulars ran in and told us to call 9-1-1
and frantically explained what had happened.
Then the day just exploded.
